University of Fukui has been pursuing university-wide exchange with universities in the Republic of Slovenia since Fukui City took a role on the host town for the Slovenian National Teams for the Tokyo Olympics. The purpose of Ambassador Matsushima’s visit this time was to exchange ideas in order to realize active academic exchanges between universities in the Republic of Slovenia and University of Fukui.
President UEDA Takanori greeted Ambassador Matsushima by saying, “We are very pleased to have former Ambassador Petrič visit our university last June and to have Ambassador Matsushima here this time.” The, Vice President AKASHI Yukio explained about the past exchange activities with the Republic of Slovenia, including the University of Ljubljana, and Professor TAKAHASHI Yasutake of the Department of Human and Artificial Intelligent Systems, Faculty of Engineering, gave a presentation on the university’s research in related fields, noting that AI and robotics research is thriving in Slovenia. A heated exchange of opinions took place based on various information provided by Ambassador Matsushima, including information on the trends of universities in the Republic of Slovenia.
Ambassador Matsushima said that he would like to provide concrete support, such as matching researchers who share common interests, and confirmed the future collaborative relationship.
With the support of Ambassador Matsushima’s visit, we will try to promote further exchange and collaboration activities with the Republic of Slovenia.
